Make a veg pledge with vegetarian sweets

This month it is Veg Pledge month!

And what does that mean?

Well, this November, Cancer Research UK are encouraging supporters to “go vegetarian or vegan” for the whole month to raise money for the dedicated charity.

With all the hype about how “veganism” and how a “flexitarian” diet is the best for the Earth, Cancer Research has tied their awareness month in precisely with such ideas.

And whether you agree or not that “veggie is best”, there are certainly advantages to raising money for the charity that works to beat cancer.

If you’re thinking of supporting the awareness month, here are a few tips on going vegetarian or vegan for the month:

  • Speak to your doctor before taking the plunge- you want to make sure the decision is a healthy choice for your body.

  • Experiment with vegetarian recipes- open up a recipe book that is perhaps thrown to the back of your kitchen cupboard,

  • Include pulses, nuts and seeds in your diet where possible! Nuts and seeds make excellent vegetarian and vegan snacks, while pulses can be added to a variety of sauces, rice, pasta and noodle dishes.

  • Plan your meals

  • Do some research from reliable sources about going vegetarian, the NHS is a great place to start!
